REFERRALS

APPOINTMENT CANCELLATIONS

We would appreciate AT LEAST 24hrs notice if you need to change or cancel your appointment as this allows us to offer it to other patients. Missed appointments, or appointments cancelled with less than 24 hrs notice may be subject to a cancellation fee.

Please consider other patients by arriving on time for your appointment (preferably about 5 to 10 minutes before your appointment is due). Please advise if you’re running late.

Non-attendance of an appointment without prior notification will attract a cancellation fee of $75 which is NOT Medicare refundable payable before any further appointment(s) can be made.

GP or specialist referrals are required to receive a Medicare rebate. The Medicare rebate can be claimed at the time of the appointment. Medicare will deposit the rebate into your nominated account usually within three working days.

A referral from the GP is valid for 12 months from your first appointment. Beyond 12 months, or for a new problem, you should obtain a new referral prior to the consultation to be billed appropriately for Medicare rebates.

Referrals from specialists are only valid for 3 months from your first specialist appointment. No appointments will be booked without a valid GP or specialist referral.

Referrals can be sent electronically through Medical Objects or faxed to 07 4124 0660. This practice uses Medical Director and Medical Objects practice software.

Electronic referrals are the preferred method for referrals.

Your GP will remain your primary doctor. You are encouraged to maintain contact with your GP for provision of ongoing care and repeat prescriptions.

NB: You will be required to pay the Full Fee amount at the time of the appointment. No further appointments will be booked until payment is made in full.
