Consultant Paediatrician

 

 Dr Clever Banda is the specialist paediatrician at Fraser Coast Paeds. He obtained his basic medical degree in Zimbabwe and subsequently completed specialist paediatric training in Australia. He also works as a staff specialist paediatrician at the Hervey Bay Hospital.

Dr Banda came to Australia in early 2006 and trained in paediatrics in hospitals in Darwin, Brisbane, Rockhampton, Bundaberg and Caboolture prior to moving to Hervey Bay. He completed most of his paediatric training through the old Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane (now Queensland Children’s Hospital).

 

Dr Banda's qualifications and other certification/memberships include: 

  • Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (University of Zimbabwe)

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians

  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh, Scotland

  • Associate Fellow of the Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM)

  • Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (UK)

  • Diploma in Child Health (University of Sydney & Children's Hospital at Westmead)

  • Master in Public Health & Tropical Medicine (James Cook University)

  • Master of Health Management (University of New South Wales)

  • Certificate in Clinical Governance for Patient safety and Quality Care (Australian Institute of Clinical Governance)

  • Certified Health Manager status with the ACHSM

  • Certification in Prechtl General Movements Assessment (Basic and Advanced) for prediction of cerebral palsy in at risk infants

  • Completed the ASD Assessment Fundamentals & Co-Occuring Conditions course (Mindful, Melbourne)

  • Completed ADOS 2 assessment training (ADOS 2 Introductory)  (Mindful Centre for Training and Research in Developmental Health, Melbourne)

  • Completed the ADOS -2 Toddler Module training workshop (Mindful, Melbourne)

  • Completed the ADOS 2 Coding and Reliability Workshop (Mindful, Melbourne)

Social

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family. He has young kids and relates well to the various challenges that parents face in bringing up children.
